Province of Manitoba in their latest Expression of Interest (EOI) draw, issued a total 217 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) to candidates who have applied for a provincial nomination for Canada permanent resident.
The latest EOI draw held on February 27 was Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)’s 84th draw, issuing LAAs to the candidates registered under MPNP’s streams in the following manner:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 161
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 24
- International Education Stream: 32
- Out of the total 217 LAAs, 20 were issued to express entry candidates. Express entry program introduced in 2015, is an application management system for Canada’s three major skilled economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). All express entry registered candidates are given the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their credentials like age, education, and work experience and language proficiency.
Highest scoring express profiles are then issued invitations to apply for Canada PR Visa. If an express entry candidate is able to get a provincial nomination certificate, they are awarded major 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
For an express entry candidate to apply for MPNP, they must have eligible work experience in one of Manitoba in-demand occupations, among other major requirements. They are also required to submit a separate EOI with the MPNP.
For an immigrant to be invited for provincial nomination under MPNP’s Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories, they must register an EOI with the MPNP. An online EOI profile is created that is awarded points out of a total of 1,000 points. These points are awarded based on the candidate’s credentials like education, work experience, language proficiency, connection to Manitoba, among other major factors. Highest scoring profiles are then issued LAAs, allowing them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada permanent residence.
In the latest provincial draw, candidates invited under Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream had a score of 499 points. Lowest-ranked candidate under Skilled Worker Overseas stream had a score of 707 points.
MPNP’s Skilled Worker Overseas category allows the province to nominate skilled foreign workers that can support the province’s labour market. For this candidate must have an established connection to the province such as close family or friends, previous education or work experience in province, or an invitation through one of MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives, among requirements.
A total of 24 candidates were invited through the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, under MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiative. Candidate invited under Skilled Workers in Manitoba category must be working in the province and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, among other major criteria.
International student graduates in the province with in-demand skills can be invited for a provincial nomination through MPNP’s International Education Stream. This stream includes three sub-categories: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
